How we both met

We met at a house party! We weren’t looking for love but it was somehow looking for us because it snuck up on us! Haha.

We have been inseparable for the past 8 years.

Why we chose to have a celebrant wedding ceremony

We had the pleasure of attending my cousins wedding a few years ago who had a celebrant and we fell in love with how personal and entertaining it was. It’s like listening to a bedtime story about love.

Marriage is more than the legalities to us and we wanted our ceremony to reflect this.

Ideas about what our ceremony could have looked like

We wanted it to be quite light hearted and entertaining for our guests.

We have sat through so many weddings where you come away forgetting what was even said. So we wanted something that would be spoken about afterwards and I think everyone took something away from our ceremony that day.

People keep quoting bits of it and I’m pleasantly surprised to see that it touched people enough to remember.

The best part of the ceremony for us

I loved the personal vows but I think my favourite bit was drinking from the Quaich as it opened up our culture to people who had never heard of the friendship cup before.

People are still talking about it. I think we might have influenced more people to go down a celebrant route. I think for a lot of people it was their first celebrant led wedding and they were blown away.

Some of our fav wedding suppliers and why we chose them

I think our photographer Duncan McCall photography – He went over and above to capture our vision. He stayed into the evening and took some amazing shots. He took us away at sun set and we got some amazing pictures in the urban setting of Byker as the sun was setting. He was so cool and collected all day and all of my guests have been singing his praises.
My wedding coordinator Amy couldn’t have done enough for us as well in the lead up to the wedding. I don’t think I could have functioned without her haha. She got absolutely everything perfect on the day and even though I was particular about certain things like the table settings she absolutely smashed it. She was so supportive in the lead up and on the day and we really valued all her hard work.
