How we both met

Saltwell Harriers running club where we were both members (and both already had other partners) back in 2014-2015

Sam asked Ria out on a “run” at the Derwent Walk -she didn’t believe it was a date it was just a run in her eyes. He offered to make her dinner afterwards and turned up severely hungover after a 3-day drinking session in Bristol with his cousins Lewis and Jack

We had a “proper” date at the Ship at Eighton Banks and were pretty much official from the off with Ria joining the Harrison gang on a camping holiday within 3 weeks!

The Wedding Venue

The Secret Tower in Newcastle – it’s a beautiful city centre venue and I couldn’t have asked for better. It’s close to home and feels really special!

Why we chose to have a celebrant wedding ceremony

I wanted our ceremony to be that extra bit special. I have been to A LOT of weddings – and they’re all SO similar and can feel not very personal. Ours was something different, and I really liked that!

Ideas about what our ceremony could have looked like

I didn’t want our day to be like everyone else’s. I wanted it to be unique and special.

The best part of the ceremony for us

Even when our little boy was running about opening doors and causing mischief, it didn’t matter to Jo. She paused, waited for him to settle and then carried on. It allowed us to be relaxed and make the ceremony work for us as a family.

It also told our story – and surely that’s what your wedding day should be about.

Writing our own vows was also pretty special and I’d recommend that to anyone.

What our guests said about our wedding ceremony/day

We had so many comments about how personal our day was and they didn’t quite understand what had happened at the ceremony as it was so unique!

Oh and we had ceremony drinks – that’s pretty cool too and something nobody had seen before!

Some of our fav wedding suppliers and why we chose them

  • Make up from @AlicearmstrongMUA – she does bridal glam like no other
  • @emilyhannahphotography was a very last minute booking and was SO worth it. Our photos are incredible and she so captured the colours and the little details so well.
  • @bakemakeeat for our cake. Linda is a friend of ours and I sent her a drawing of how I wanted our cake to turn out and she made it a reality. She was even running around 2 hrs before the ceremony buying extra flowers. I say no more – she’s amazing.

Three words that sum up our ‘Love Jo’ experience?
