How we both met
We met the old-fashioned way, at work! Mikhaila joined Jesse’s team in late 2019, but it wasn’t until almost a year later (after Covid Lockdown Part 1 and a job and team change for Jesse) that we had our first date…the night before Lockdown Part 2 began!
The Wedding Venue
We got married at Ellingham Hall in Northumberland. We loved it the moment we saw it – we viewed it in autumn, and while we’d originally intended to have a Springtime wedding we just loved the autumn colours at Ellingham and the real fires.
It was an ideal venue for us.
Why we chose to have a celebrant wedding ceremony
We wanted the ceremony to be about us, and our love.
We wanted it to be simple and light-hearted and joyful; which is exactly what we got with Jo!
Ideas about what our ceremony could have looked like
We did: neither of us enjoy being the centre of attention so we just wanted something simple but meaningful. We wanted it to be emotional without being overdone, and we wanted everyone to enjoy it.
Jo was brilliant and really thorough, and made some really thoughtful suggestions that helped shape our ceremony.
The best part of the ceremony for us
Our vows!
We were anxious about writing personal vows, and Jo was so lovely and helpful. She helped us craft simple, modern, but personal vows that meant a lot to us.
What our guests said about our wedding ceremony/day
Everyone was raving about it!
Our guests loved the ceremony and commented on how personal and emotional it was, and how fun Jo was.
They just loved the day overall.
Some of our fav wedding suppliers and why we chose them
- Hugo & Elliott in Norton, where Mikhaila got her dress: Sean and Marie are an absolute dream team. The boutique is gorgeous, and there’s no rush whatsoever from the team – they provide a genuinely warm, calm, lovely experience.
- Becca at Wild In Tyne: Her florals are divine. She’s so talented, as soon as we found her Instagram account we knew we wanted her to do our wedding flowers.
- Steve McDonald, our photographer, is a diamond. We tend to talk about Steve and Jon, our videographer at Top Table Films, in the same sentence because they’re such a good team. Jon is absolutely lovely and they’re the two best hype-men you could wish for. For two camera shy people, we were dreading the wedding photos and video but still wanted the day captured – Steve and Jon were really good at putting us at ease. We’re really happy with our photos and videos.
- Claire Milburn from Claire Alexandra Hair & Make Up: A super talented lady who, along with Nicola, made our bridal party feel so beautiful on the day. She really took the time to understand what we all wanted and absolutely nailed it.
- Dan Dewar (DJ Danny) from Tartan Entertainment: He was absolutely brilliant – the wedding DJ/band can really make or break the party, and everyone commented on how great the music was at our wedding. We had a hard time herding people off the dancefloor and home/to bed at the end of the night!
- Ellingham events team: The list wouldn’t be complete without a mention of the amazing events team at Ellingham. Guests commented on how smoothly the day ran, and it was all thanks to the Ellingham dream team. They made everything very easy, and we were able to totally relax knowing that they had everything sorted.
Three words that sum up our ‘Love Jo’ experience!
Personal, Fun & Relaxed…
