How we both met

We met for the first time when I was a barmaid in a pub and Jasons friend was seeing my friend so they came into the pub and we got chatting and it turned out I was starting a job where he worked! When I started work at Vertu I would see him around mostly topping his broken car up, and then over Christmas one year we got chatting and ended up going on our first date to the cinema!

Why we chose to have a celebrant wedding ceremony

We wanted a personal feel to our wedding ceremony. We wanted our story to be told rather than a registrar reading a script. We wanted humour, laughter and love and Jo gave us all of that and so much more! We had so many people saying how amazing the ceremony was and personal to us and our story.

Ideas about what our ceremony could have looked like

We were guests at a wedding Jo performed last  year for my friend Beth, and I was blown away at how personal it was.

We knew we wanted our ceremony to be full of fun and laughter because that reflects our relationship.  We wanted something quirky, so when Jo suggested doing a ‘unity shot of lemoncello’ in the ceremony we LOVED it! And amazing Jo also provided the authentic lemoncello which was so lovely and shows how kind and considerate Jo is to all of her couples.

The best part of the ceremony for us

I think our favourite part was definitely the poem our bridesmaids and my auntie Laurna wrote for us.  Tt was Jo’s idea for a reading or speaker , and when I spoke to my friends and family they said they would be happy to be part of it.  I’m so glad she suggested it because it was amazing!   The unity shot was definitely one of my favourite parts too!

I have added the poem below which was written (sorry it’s long!).  My auntie Laurna also read a poem that was last read out at her wedding by my mam which was very special because we lost my mam in 2021, and that wouldn’t have happened without Jo…

Lucy and Jason, the reason we’re here

It started so good, then, a shit load of beer

Location the hen do, just living the dream

shots, fun and Seccy, a formidable team

Let’s start with the bride, our locket, our Luce

Always loving life with a vodka orange juice

You’re amazing, we love you, you enrich every room

You’ll still be our person, he’s only the groom

And now onto Jason, a saint you must be

To take on wor Luce, it’s a lot, we agree

Your devotion is noted, your a legend for sure

We know you adore her, your love is so pure

Together you’ve been through the worst you could know

And your strength and your courage, my god does it show

The universe knew and made you two meet

Now Fiona and Fran, always a front seat

So let’s raise a toast. To the Fields we adore

We’re one massive family, I can say no more

To the people we miss, to the folks who are here

To Lucy and Jason, we love you, we cheer!

What our guests said about our wedding ceremony/day

Our guests were blown away by how much they laughed and cried in our ceremony. They said it was so us, everything about it captured us as a couple.  Auntie Laurna and her wife Ann-Marie loved Jo so much they want Jo to be their celebrant when they renew their vows.

It felt like family having Jo there with us on our special day.

Some of our fav wedding suppliers and why we chose them

We were so so happy with all of our wedding suppliers on the day, it was perfect. With a special mention to go to:

  • Our amazing photographer Dan at Nineteen 90 Photography.  We were so anxious about getting our photos taken by someone we hadn’t really met but our anxiety was quickly gone when we met Dan for a drink a few weeks before the ceremony. He asked us what we wanted and didn’t want and we had such a laugh and when he arrived on the day while we were getting ready it was like having a friend who had known everyone for years there. He was having a laugh with everyone the minute he arrived and you forgot he was there taking pictures, everyone was at ease and the pictures really are incredible! We are so so happy with them and the care and contact he has kept with us since.
  • We also loved our band Millennium Bug Duo.  Everyone loved their music choices and it definitely made the night extra special!

Three words that sum up our ‘Love Jo’ experience!

Personal, Quirky, Unforgettable! We love you Jo x
