How we both met

We met online – Al suggested meeting for a tame coffee and Louise suggested alcohol for Dutch courage instead.  We met for dinner and drinks on the Quayside – and the rest is history!

The Wedding Venue

Wylam Brewery – We knew we wanted somewhere relaxed and a place we would go back to time and time again, and Wylam Brewery is a firm favourite of ours so it was a no brainer really.

Why we chose to have a celebrant wedding ceremony

We knew from the start that we didn’t want a standard style Registrar ceremony that we had both seen before.  We wanted a ceremony that was personal and individual and which felt like ‘us’.

We definitely wanted something informal and fun and as soon as we spoke to Jo we knew a celebrant ceremony was exactly what we had been looking for.

Ideas about what our ceremony could have looked like

Not at all – We had no idea what would even be possible or just how flexible Jo’s ceremonies could be!  Jo took us through everything step by step and we trusted her implicitly – she made us both feel totally at ease and she took the best care of us, always making suggestions and guiding us to make our ceremony truly special.

The best part of the ceremony for us

Jo suggested asking friends or family to get up and say their own words about us as a couple.  We asked Al’s sisters, Emma and Jane, if they would do us the honours!  It was one of our favourite parts of the ceremony as we had no idea what they would say, but they pitched it perfectly and it was such a special surprise filled with lots of laughter and love.

What our guests said about our wedding ceremony/day

Our guests loved both our ceremony and Jo – getting to hear our story, the ceremony being so relaxed and personal, and Jo’s genuine and warm personality in making all our guests feel involved.

It was the most special way to stand up in front of our friends and family and totally reflected us as a couple.  Lots of guests also loved being able to have a toast as part of the ceremony – this seemed to be a winner and not something that many people had experienced before during a ceremony.

Some of our fav wedding suppliers and why we chose them

We had so many amazing people bringing our day to life but special mention has to go to:

  • Love Jo – obviously first mention has to go to Jo!  What can we say….. Jo is amazing and we will be forever grateful for her making our ceremony what it was, we both felt an instant calm standing at the end of the aisle and being in Jo’s safe hands. She genuinely cares and her warm and loving personality made it feel like our ceremony was being held by a true friend.
  • Danny Birrell (photographer) and Ryan Edwards (videographer) – the nicest guys, both putting us at ease, and both absolutely amazing at what they do!
  • Leigh Hetherington Bridal Wear – Leigh took so much time to really understand what I was hoping for in a dress, and in the end it was like she took a download of my thoughts and created exactly what I was looking for.
  • Wylam Brewery – the staff at Wylam were the best, nothing was too much trouble and they made sure we didn’t have to think of a thing on the day!  Special shout out to Rod and Mara who both made everything happen!
  • Muscari – we gave Amy and Emma one example photograph to work from and they brought to life the most amazing flowers and décor that was absolutely perfect.
  • Pink Lane Bakery – their cake was to die for!

Three words that sum up our ‘Love Jo’ experience!

Full Of Love…
