How we both met
We met through friends New Years Eve of 2011, we met on probably one of the worst nightclubs in Wakefield (well known for it’s sticky floor, cheap drinks and love of 80’s music). A month later we decided to go out on a date and here we are.
The Wedding Venue
We got married at The Baltic Centre of Contemporary Art
Why we chose to have a celebrant wedding ceremony
We actually had an officiant booked originally as I’d done no homework on the ceremony or celebrants. When covid happened it really shook our wedding plans up and while having to postpone we found the officiant was booked on our chosen date so I decided to look into other options which is how we came across celebrants and what they do. After reading about celebrants we realised that we actually didn’t want just a boring same as everyone ceremony, we wanted something unique to us and something special. Jo was great in making our ceremony as unique as us and helping us create the perfect ceremony.
Ideas about what our ceremony could have looked like
It wasn’t until we started speaking to Jo about the options that were available to us did we then start and realise our ceremony can be really personal. We thought that ceremonies could only be one way and certain words said and you can only do certain things but after speaking to Jo it allowed us to really think about what we want from our ceremony instead of been told what we can have. It allowed us to intertwine the ceremony into our day and make it super special.
The best part of the ceremony for us
We really liked the personalisation, people got to hear about our story and us and that was super special. We also really liked the stone ceremony and we have our stones, signed by our guests on display.
What our guests said about our wedding ceremony/day
We had nothing but great comments, my auntie actually said it was the best ceremony she’d ever been to! Everyone really liked the uniqueness of it and personal touches
