How we both met
We met in a bar after a Sam Fender concert back in April 2022!
The Wedding Venue
Woodhill Hall, Otterburn.
Why we chose to have a celebrant wedding ceremony
We wanted a very chilled, fun wedding from start to finish, and a celebrant felt like the right way to go! We loved the idea of the ceremony being personal to us and our story rather than the traditional route.
It also meant we were able to have a legal ceremony back in Belfast (Kirby’s hometown) as well, which was really special.
We’re so glad we did, and we’re so glad it was Jo. Our ceremony was better than we could ever have imagined.
Ideas about what our ceremony could have looked like
Not really – we were happy to be guided by Jo and all her experience and knowledge. From our first meeting with Jo we totally trusted her. We felt completely comfortable following her lead. Saying that, once we got chatting, it was a totally collaborative approach – she listened and advised but was more than willing to work in any ideas we had.
The best part of the ceremony for us
Probably how comfortable and calm we both felt in that moment and in Jo’s presence.
It was the part we were initially both most nervous about, but those nerves disappeared after our first call with Jo.
We loved that there was so much love, but also laughter. Jo also reacted and improvised to perfection, involving our baby boy and guests in the best way.
What our guests said about our wedding ceremony/day
So many guests on the day (and since) have mentioned how wonderful the ceremony was and how brilliant Jo was. They loved how personal and emotional it was.
I think everyone was in (happy) tears at some point!
Many actually said it was one of their favourite parts of the day, and so different to any ceremony they’d experienced before.
Some of our fav wedding suppliers and why we chose them
Ah so many incredible suppliers – I could mention them all!
- First and foremost – Love Jo. We will forever be grateful to Jo for the incredible ceremony she created for us. She set the tone for the most special day. We knew as soon as we met her that we’d made the right decision. What a woman! (I am beyond grateful, my love Jo) x
- My MUA Anna McClen – I truly believe there isn’t a better bridal MUA in the North East (and beyond!).
- Sally T Photography – Sally was just a dream from start to finish. She is so talented and was such a nice vibe on the day. Our photos are amazing!
- Our day-time musician Archie (plus)
- Evening band The Overthinkers (both) were unbelievable.
- Our guests also loved the Ice-cycles ice cream cart (even though it was raining)
- and Social Studio North photobooth in the evening.
Three words that sum up our ‘Love Jo’ experience!
Fun, unique & magic!
