How we both met
Hosiery collided with Chocolate!
We met whilst both working at Fenwick. Kate worked in hosiery & James confectionery. A redevelopment of the food hall led to a relocation of the chocolate counter and the rest is history!
Almost 10 years later we must be doing something right!

Why we chose to have a celebrant wedding ceremony
We wanted our day to be unique to us, without the restraints of a registrar led ceremony.
James grew up alongside Jo’s son & family and knew she’d do an amazing job. It was a full circle moment which made things even more emotional.
(message from me guys – I was so emotional too)!
Ideas about what our ceremony could have looked like
We’d seen Jo’s videos before and couldn’t wait for her take on our story. We wanted our guests to come on the journey with us and appreciate the love we have for one another.
The best part of the ceremony for us
Seeing each other for the first time as Kate came down the aisle.
Our guests being able to laugh and cry as Jo took them through our love story – everyone was so relaxed.
Exchanging our very own personal vows!
What our guests said about our wedding ceremony/day
Nobody had ever experienced anything like our ceremony before.
Everyone loved how unique our ceremony was and refreshing to hear about us a couple rather than the legalities of marriage. Guests said how extremely emotional it was…
Some of our fav wedding suppliers and why we chose them
We really struggled to pick just a few suppliers, it genuinely felt like we had the dream team! Everyone was amazing and worked so well together.
- @sophsviolin – Violinist. I think live music just adds an extra level of emotion. Sophie was also perfect during our drinks reception and got the vibe just right!
- Mukki Pups – Dog Chaperone & Boarding. We really struggled to find someone that offered both chaperoning and in house stays and feel really lucky to have found Sarah! Peace of mind for the whole day knowing Benny was in safe hands.
- @enchantedfloristdurham (Julie Reid) – Flowers. Julie made Kate’s vision come to life and got the theme bang on! All of the flowers, from table settings to the girls bouquets were amazing.
- @studiosocialnorth – Photobooth. Didn’t feel like your average cheesy photo booth with inflatable props and signs. The quality of the pictures are amazing and it was great to receive a digital copy of every picture the day after our wedding to look back on. Tom was a dream to deal with!
- @stevenmaddisondj – DJ! he dance floor was packed all night which tells you everything you need to know. We let Steven know the type of music we liked and the vibe for the night and he done the rest.
- @danny.birrell – Photography! Danny was amazing on the day and made us both feel very relaxed which is exactly what we wanted. He understood the style of photography we liked and can’t wait to see the finished product.
- @ruerosefilms – Videography. Similar to Danny, Dan was amazing on the day! He kept us right and guided us but never felt intrusive or like anything had to be done his way. A very relaxed approach and have no doubts our final film will be watched back for years to come.
Three words that sum up our ‘Love Jo’ experience!
Genuine – Captivating – Emotional…
